Nanotechnology in Food and Agriculture

Nanotechnology has also evolved in food and agriculture sectors, by invention of smart packaging to reduce food contamination and wastage of food, Nano- remediation of wastewater for land irrigation, Nano sensors, Nano pesticides and Nano fertilisers. Nano materials have been developed for improving food quality and safety, crop growth and to monitor environmental conditions. Low toxic materials and high performance need to be addressed for the development of nanotechnology. Nanotechnology implementation in agriculture offers genetic materials for enhanced soil fertility and protection, along with improved traits for better stress tolerance.
